There are some stunning walks available around the park itself and some beautiful natural landscapes.
The river which runs alongside the park is very clean and picturesque. The park offers a beautiful and well maintained grass area which is fantastic for children to play on or for adults to sit and relax on.
There are endless number of walks and rambles which are suitable for the less adventurous, but never the less, offer views over some beautiful scenery, such as looking towards Skiddaw and Little Dodd.
We also own 27 acres of woodland around the park which you are welcome to enjoy for walks.
We are in the perfect location to explore the Lake District too.
Bassenthwaite Lake is very close by, Derwentwater is less than 20 minutes away and other beautiful lakes to visit just a short drive away include Thirlmere, Ennerdale Water, Crummock Water, Loweswater, Buttermere, Ullswater, Windermere, Coniston Water, Wastwater, Rydal Water, Grasmere and Haweswater.
We have a huge range of activities nearby such as sailing, canoeing and kayaking, cycling, horse riding, Go Ape at Whinlatter Forest Park, golfing, swimming, climbing walls, fishing, paint balling, and mountain biking. There are also endless options available to walkers, climbers and ramblers wanting to explore the area.
There are many places of interest to enjoy for the less physically adventurous which include Wordsworth House in Cockermouth, The Keswick Museum, The Lake District Wildlife Park, Dove Cottage at Grasmere, Mirehouse and many other wonderful places.

There are a wide range of fantastic places to eat out nearby, the closest being The Sun Inn in Bassenthwaite which is within walking distance or The Old Sawmill Tearoom at Dodd Wood. Any of our staff will also be more than happy to recommend where is good to eat locally for the type of food you enjoy or the type of ambiance you’re looking for.
