If using your Satnav, do not use our postcode as you will not end up at our location. We recommend using the postcode for the Sun Inn pub at Bassenthwaite, CA12 4QP. When reaching Bassenthwaite village, you need to be over the stone bridge and other side of the beck behind the Sun Inn. You need to take the road to the right towards Park Wood, continue up the road for approximately half a mile and you will see the entrance to High Close on the right which has a slate sign standing in the ground to the left of the entrance.
From the M6 – Leave the M6 at junction 40 and take the A66 towards Keswick. Continue past Keswick on the bypass, then when you reach the Crosthwaite roundabout, take the third exit A591 for Carlisle. Travel for approximately 6 miles until you see a right turn for Bassenthwaite, just past the village church on the right. You will go past the village school then will come to the village green, which you need to go across, then through a narrow gap (called ‘The Narrows’) between houses, you will then see the Sun Inn ahead. Go over the bridge with Sun Inn on your left and bear right towards Park Wood. Continue on this road for about half a mile and you will see the entrance to High Close on your right.
From Carlisle – Go on to the A595 heading south out of the city towards Cockermouth & Whitehaven. After approximately 14 miles, turn left at Bothel onto the A591 following signs for Keswick. After roughly 6 miles, you will see the Castle Inn, a large hotel on your right, you need to take the second on the left which is signposted for Bassenthwaite village. Follow the road for about 1 mile until you see the Sun Inn on the right, over a stone bridge. Do not go over the bridge, but instead follow the road ahead which goes towards Park Wood.
