High Close Holiday Home Park in the Lake
District village of Bassenthwaite near Keswick has the attraction of being
accessible yet secluded. The holiday park is only 7 miles from the Lakeland
market town of Keswick and 8 miles from the historical Cumbrian town of
Cockermouth. High Close (fortunately) is not easy to find, if using satellite
navigation, please enter the post code of the Sun Inn CA12 4QP and then follow
the directions below, as High Close’s post code will not bring you directly to
the park.
From
the M6 motorway
- Turn off the motorway at Penrith (J40) and follow the A66 towards Keswick.
When you reach Keswick continue on the A66 until you reach Crossthwaite
roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto the A591 signposted Carlisle. Continue on
this road for approximately 6 miles until you see a right turn for Bassenthwaite
village (just past the village church on your right). Follow the turning going
past the village school when you reach the village take the right hand turn
across the village green and through the Narrows. When your reach the Sun Inn go
over the small bridge and turn immediately right towards Park Wood continue
along this road for about 1/2 mile High Close is the first entrance on the right
hand side of the road as you enter Park Wood
From
Carlisle
- Go onto the A595 heading out of the South of the city towards Cockermouth and
Workington. After roughly 14 miles turn left at Bothel following signs for
Keswick (onto the A591). When you reach the Castle Inn hotel take the 2nd left
signposted Bassenthwaite 1. Follow the road until you come to a small bridge
(the Sun Inn is on your right), don't go over the bridge but go straight on
towards Park Wood. After about 1/2 mile High Close is the first entrance on the
right hand side of the road
